Verona junior Sierra Ejercito extended her hitting streak to 16 games in the loss to the Cardinals.

Verona had just three hits but rode the arm of pitcher Mallorie Kreuser to a 2-1 Big Eight victory over Madison Memorial on Friday, May 3, at Verona High School.

Kreuser was coming off a gem during the Wildcats’ 4-1 conference win over Janesville Parker on Thursday, May 2, in Janesville.

Ejercito and freshman Emma Parker combined for six hits and six RBIs to lead Verona to a 10-1 Big Eight win over Sun Prairie West on Tuesday, April 30, at Verona High School.

Quackenboss gave up no earned runs on two hits in a complete-game effort for Verona. She issued three walks and racked up 11 strikeouts.

Middleton scored the only run of the game on an error by the Wildcats in the top of the first inning.

Verona 2, Madison Memorial 1

Kreuser gave up seven hits in seven innings, but allowed just one earned one. She issued one walk and struck out seven.

Verona (11-6-1, 10-3 Big Eight) got all the run supported it needed when the Wildcats scored two runs in the bottom of the second inning. Taylor Peterson had a hit and drove in a run out of the leadoff spot.

Verona 4, Janesville Parker 1

Kreuser struck out 10 and allowed no earned runs in another complete-game effort. Peterson and Ejercito both had two hits. Ejercito also walked twice and added an RBI. Harriet Salas doubled and drove in one run.

Verona 10, Sun Prairie West 1

Ejercito finished 3-for-4 with three RBIs and also scored twice. Parker drove in three runs off three hits and also scored once. Peterson scored three times out of the leadoff spot for the Wildcats.

Kreuser gave up seven hits in a complete game, but issued just one earned run. She added seven strikeouts.
