Sophomore Ellie Trieloff earned a chance to run on championship Saturday at the WIAA Division 1 state track meet at the University of Wisconsin-La Crosse’s Veterans Memorial Stadium.

Trieloff finished 10th in the preliminaries of the 400-meter dash Friday, May 31, with a time of 1 minute, 0.56 seconds to earn the final spot in the finals.

“I made it to the finals, and I don’t have anything to lose,” Trieloff said. “My goal for tomorrow is to go hard and just have fun. I just feel super accomplished because I have put in all of this hard work and it’s starting to pay off.”

Trieloff said her goal is to run under a minute in the finals.

“I want to just hang with the big dogs,” she said. “There are a lot of great athletes here. I’m just trying to run my race to the best of my ability.”

The Vikings' 4x100 relay team of sophomore Savy Borroughs, freshman Annie Tageman, senior Peighton Trieloff and freshman Abigail Groleau took 23rd in the prelims (50.60).

In the 4x400 relay, the team of senior Alex Ashworth, freshman Victoria Ashworth, senior Anna Wozniak and Ellie Trieloff placed 23rd (4:11.95).
