Stoughton Area School District Superintendent Dr. Tim Onsager will meet with districts residents from 9-10 a.m. November 27, at the senior center to discuss key school district funding issues and other matters.

School financing directly affects our property tax obligation. Most people agree that Stoughton has great schools and the quality of education is excellent. By staying informed about school funding and budgeting, we can help maintain that level of excellence and support our schools in the future.

This is an opportunity to discuss with Dr. Onsager the impact of private school vouchers financed by state tax dollars at a higher per pupil rate than public schools, the impact of Stoughton’s declining student enrollment in the state aid formula and the resulting burden on the local taxing authority, and the effect of continued enrollment decline on educational offerings for students and inevitable job losses.
