Senior Lucas Strasser is emerging into one of the top sprinters in the state and Verona’s 3,200-meter relay team proved it still will be a force for a state berth on Saturday, March 23, at the Ripon College Large School Showcase.

The Wildcats’ 3,200 relay team of Silas Milhans, sophomore Sawyer Gehin, Nolan Sathoff and senior Aimon Van Houten finished third with a time of 8 minutes, 38.51 seconds in the 32-team meet. Strasser took fifth in the 60-meter dash (7.22). It marked the 26th fattest time in the state this year and 12th-fastest in school history. The Wildcats’ 800 relay team placed fourth (1:38.24).

Senior Wes Briquelet finished fifth in the shot put with a throw of 49 feet, 3.5 inches. Gehin added a fifth-place finish in the 3,200 (10:02.78).

In the 1,600, sophomore Aaron Yarbro took seventh (4:39.37) and junior Eli Rindfleisch placed eighth (4:41.97). Sathoff took ninth in the 800 (2:07.42).
