OMS students designs logo for county youth event

Dane County School Consortium director Josh Fassl presents a certificate of participation and gift card to OMS seventh-grader Madeline Grutzner at the school May 19 for her artwork submission for Future Quest 2017. Her logo will be used for the event, slated for Dec. 6 at the Alliant Energy Center in Madison.

When creating a logo for an upcoming event designed to introduce youths to possible careers, Madeline Grutzner might have just found one for herself.

Grutzner, an Oregon Middle School seventh-grader, won first place in a Dane County School Consortium artwork contest. The goal was to create an original logo for the Future Quest event set for Dec. 6 at the Alliant Energy Center in Madison.

Grutzner was presented with her prize and certificate of participation at OMS on Friday, May 19.

“Dane County School Consortium appreciates Madeline’s clever and fun logo submission,” the group announced in a news release. “It was a perfect concept for what they were trying to capture with the Future Quest motivation.”

Dane County School Consortium focuses on integrating school-based and work-based learning to provide students with occupational skills to prepare them for their next steps, according to the news release. The consortium, along with Madison Metropolitan School District, will host Future Quest 2017 for around 5,300 middle school students.

The event “will provide area middle school students with an experiential trade-show-like event to explore the variety of careers available in Dane county and beyond,” according to the news release.
