The phones have been knocked out at several village buildings twice in the last two weeks, but normal service has since resumed.

The outages came two Wednesdays in a row, May 15 and 22, and village administrator Mike Gracz told the Observer he thinks they were related to work being done on the new youth center.

On May 22, the outage started around 8:30 a.m. and lasted until about 3 p.m. at various village buildings, Gracz said, including Village Hall, the Oregon Area Senior Center and the police department. The previous outage also lasted for the better part of a day, Gracz said, and in both instances, the village’s internal phone lines remained in service.

Frontier Communications restored service in both instances.
