Spring Roll Challenge

RoundTrip, a transportation options program in Dane County, is launching the Spring Roll Challenge this April to encourage car-free and car-light trips.

According to a RoundTrip news release, the Spring Roll Challenge is free and open to everyone 18 years or older in Dane County. The purpose is to reward people for using sustainable transportation options and connect participants with others doing the same thing.

The first 50 individuals to join the challenge will receive a starter prize pack, including a free slice from Ian’s Pizza, a 30-minute BCycle pass and a two-ride Metro Transit pass. Those looking to participate can follow three steps:

  1. Register with RoundTrip at roundtripgreatermadison.org

  2. Join the Spring Roll Challenge

  3. Log your green trips throughout April for chances to win weekly and grand prize drawings

Every trip that participants make by walking, rolling, bicycling, riding the bus, carpooling and vanpooling – instead of driving alone – counts.

“The Spring Roll Challenge is an opportunity for people to feel good about the choices they’re making,” RoundTrip Program Manager Zia Brucaya said in the release. “Small changes make a difference – even replacing just one or two drive-alone trips each week with a different option, whether it’s carpooling to work, riding a bike with your child to school or taking the bus to meet friends on a Friday night, is a great way to save money and reduce your impact on the environment.”

According to the release, participants must log at least six one-way green trips each week, or 24 one-way green trips throughout April, to be eligible for the weekly and grand prize drawings. Three winners will be chosen each week. Prizes include $100 Slow Roll Cycles gift cards, $50 CommuteRewards gift cards, Madison BCycle memberships, travel mugs and Metro Transit passes.
