University of Wisconsin-Madison students enrolled in an independent Food Study class spent the afternoon of Friday, April 19, at Wisconsin Brewing Company making beer as a part of the Campus Craft Brewery partnership between the university and the brewery.

Students brewed with a “Wild Lager” yeast discovered by UW-Madison professor and his researchers in Patagonia, Argentina, in 2011. The same kind of yeast was found for the first time in the Northern Hemisphere a few years later by the same professor in Indian Mound Park in Sheboygan.

The Campus Craft Brewery partnership is in its sixth year, and teaches students how to develop and ferment beers, as well as market them for sale.
