The Stoughton High School boys hockey team opened a shortened season with struggles on the power play with two losses in its first week of play.

A return to contact for the Oregon High School wrestling team proved to be a challenge with a short-handed team in a season-opening double dual at Baraboo on Friday, Jan. 15.

Senior all-state defenseman Nathan Jurrens returned from a foot injury and the Verona boys hockey team extended its winning streak to five games before losing a showdown with Stevens Point.


After posting a 7-1 start to the season as a club team, many took notice when the Oregon boys hockey team made the switch to a WIAA-sanctioned season and the Panthers earned a No. 5 ranking in the Division 2 Wisconsin Hockey state poll.

The Stoughton High School boys basketball team has welcomed a return to the court, but finding a rhythm is difficult, with Dane County restrictions prohibiting contact in practice making scrimmaging and rebounding drills a no-go.


Oregon High School junior guard Emily Mortenson knocked down five 3-pointers and scored a game-high 17 points to lead the Panthers to a 52-36 win over Mount Horeb on Tuesday, Jan. 12, at JustAgame Fieldhouse in the Wisconsin Dells. It marked the first win this season for Oregon (1-2).
