ConnectFitchburg.com is the online version of The Fitchburg Star, a community newspaper that has been proudly serving the Fitchburg area since 1974.
It was delivered in newspaper form only until 2008, when ConnectFitchburg began, and in 2009, the bi-weekly printed version of the paper was discontinued. ConnectFitchburg.com remains the definitive source of news for the community, covering city government, business, features and the Verona Area School District.
In September, 2009 the formerly bi-weekly Star was converted to an online only publication.
The Fitchburg Star returned in paper form as of March 14, 2014. It is published on the second Friday of each month, and the Star continues its online coverage between publications to keep Fitchburg in the know about what's going on around the city.
The brand was acquired in 1998 by Woodward Communications, Inc., publishers of several other award-winning local community newspapers including the Oregon Observer, Stoughton Courier Hub, Verona Press; Your Family magazine; as well as the Great Dane Shopper.
Located along the southwestern edge of Madison, it has a population of nearly 30,000. The Town of Fitchburg became a city overnight in 1983 after a state Supreme Court decision and has been working for many years to developing a civic, retail and industrial core near its geographical center.
