Verona junior libero Amelia Hust and junior middle blocker Maddy Kelley were named first-team Big Eight All-Conference last month.

Coach Kelley Annen was named the conference’s Coach of the Year after guiding the Wildcats to a second-place finish in the Big Eight and a second straight WIAA Division 1 sectional appearance.

Hust led the team with 444 digs, an average of 4.3 per set and 65 aces. Kelley racked up 167 kills and a team-high 76 blocks.

The Wildcats finished the season 34-6 overall and second in the Big Eight regular season behind Sun Prairie and third in the conference tournament. For the second straight year, Waunakee topped Verona in a Division 1 sectional semifinal.

Senior outside hitter Sophie Alexander was named second-team all-conference. She delivered a team-high 223 kills, an average of 2.3 per set. The trio of players named honorable mention all-conference are junior setter Jordan Armstrong, junior outside hitter Megan Touchett and freshman outside hitter Claudia Bobb.

Armstrong had a team-best 525 assists, an average of five per set, 113 digs and 44 aces. Touchett posted 182 kills this season, and Bobb was second on the team with 266 digs and third in aces (43).
