Verona senior Meghan Anderson tossed a no-hitter and struck out seven to lead the Wildcats to a 2-0 win over Sun Prairie on Tuesday, May 7, in a Big Eight Conference clash.
The Verona softball team moved one step closer to winning a conference championship after knocking off Sun Prairie.
Verona (13-2 overall, 11-0 Big Eight) has a two-game lead on the Cardinals with six games left this season.

Anderson was up to the test in a pitchers’ duel posting a no-hitter to lead the Wildcats over the Cardinals.
It’s the second time this season Verona has defeated defending WIAA Division 1 state champion Sun Prairie.
Senior Molly McChesney had two hits and junior Kasie Keyes had one RBI.
Verona 9, Craig 4
Keyes and Alyssa Bostley each went 2-for-3 with two doubles to lead the Wildcats to a 9-4 win over Janesville Craig on Friday in Janesville.
Verona scored twice in the bottom of the first inning and four more times in the third on the way to the victory.
Craig scored three runs in the top of the fifth, but the Wildcats responded with a pair of runs in the bottom of the inning and held off the Cougars from there.
McChensey also went 2-for-3 for the Wildcats.
