Verona goalie Elsa Queoff keeps her balance after making a strong save during the second half of Tuesday’s game against Oregon.

The Verona girls soccer team split two games over the past week.

The Wildcats knocked off Madison East in a Big Eight Conference game at Reddan Soccer Park and were shut out by Oregon, ranked second in the Division 2 Wisconsin Soccer Coaches Association state poll, at Huntoon Field in Oregon.

Verona (5-7-1 overall, 4-4-1 Big Eight) received an 11th WIAA DIvision 1 regional and will play a regional semifinal at sixth-seeded Oconomowoc at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday, May 28.

Oregon 4, Verona 0

Four players scored and Oregon rolled to a 4-0 win over Verona on Tuesday at Huntoon Field.

Junior forward Avary Fanning had a goal on an assist by junior forward Ashley Hanson at 15 minutes, 40 seconds. Junior defender Brooklyn Kane scored in the 24th minute on a pass from junior midfielder Hanna Rohrer to give the Panthers a 2-0 lead.

The Panthers added two goals in the second half.

Verona freshman goalkeeper Elsa Queoff had eight saves. The Panthers outshot the WIldcats 12-2.

Verona 2, Madison East 1

Sophomore Morgan Grignon and junior Olivia Rawson each scored goals to lead Verona to a 2-1 Big Eight Conference win over Madison East on Thursday at Reddan Soccer Park.

Senior forward Julia Gilboy had two assists. Grignon struck first for the WIldcats on an assist by Gilboy at 44:23. About four minutes later, Rawson scored on a pass from Gilboy to give the WIldcats a 2-0 lead.

Verona outshot East 12-5. Freshman goalkeeper Elsa Queoff had four saves.
