Loras College women’s outdoor track and field team made history by becoming the first Duhawk sport to be crowned national champions.

Verona Area High School graduate and track athlete Lexi Alt competed with Loras College at the Division III NCAA Outdoor Track and Field Championships last weekend at the SPIRE Institute in Geneva, Ohio.

Alt, a junior at Loras College in Dubuque, teamed up with junior Gabriella Noland, senior Bella Solis and junior Terrianna Black to take first in the 4x100m relay with a personal-record and school record time of 46.30 seconds.

Alt teamed up with Noland, Solis and freshman Stevie Lamb to take seventh in the 4x400 relay with a time of 3 minutes, 47.89 seconds. Alt also earned Academic All-American honors her first three years at Loras.
