Verona Area School District families enrolling in 4-year-old kindergarten will have two more daycare centers to choose from next year.

The school board approved its annual contract with area daycare centers that provide the 4K services Tuesday, June 18.

Tanya’s Big House 4 Kidz and The Goddard School, both located in Verona, are new for the 2019-20 school year. Tanya’s had participated in the past, but it was “quite a while” since they were in the program, director of curriculum and instruction Ann Franke told the board.

They bring the total to 13 centers in the program.

“We have sites really all over,” Franke said. “It makes it convenient for families to get a really high quality 4K experience.”

The only change to the contract for this year was additional language about security, “Ensuring the site is secure based on VASD guidelines.”

The district is projecting 319 students in 4K next year, with 285 enrolled as of June 18, Franke said. In recent years, the district has alternated slightly above and below 300.
