The three remaining options for new Verona Area School District attendance area boundaries will be up for public feedback beginning next week.

The district and its consultants have planned the first of two public outreach meetings at 6 p.m. Tuesday, April 9, focused on Spanish-speaking families. The second meeting, set for Tuesday, April 16, will be for English-speaking families.

Translation equipment will be available at both events.

The April 9 meeting is at the Catholic Multicultural Center, 5256 Verona Road, Fitchburg, while the April 16 meeting is at the Verona Area High School Performing Arts Center.

Attendees will be able to talk with consultants on the project after a brief presentation on the remaining options, and offer their pros and cons of each. The 29-member Attendance Area Advisory Committee, which began meeting last fall, plans to take that feedback into consideration at an April 24 meeting, when it would finalize its recommendations to the school board.

The board is expected to make a decision by sometime in June, about 14 months before the boundaries go into effect in September 2020 when the new high school building opens. At that time, Badger Ridge Middle School and the charter schools are expected to move to the current high school building and Sugar Creek Elementary School to the Badger Ridge building.
