The Verona Area Board of Education has approved the contracts of two principal hires, as well as a district elementary education director.
During its Monday, April 6, meeting, the board approved contracts for Jessica Beem, who was hired as the principal for Country View Elementary, and Paris Echoles, who was hired as principal for Savanna Oaks.
A contract was also set to be approved for Ronnie Cantú, who rescinded his acceptance to be the district’s first elementary education director, assistant superintendent for academic services Laurie Burgos told the board Monday. The position was created by administrative restructuring done in the later half of 2019.
Beem, the student support advocate and behavior lead administrator at West Middleton Elementary School, will succeed Michelle Nummerdor as the principal of Country View Elementary. Prior to coming to the Middleton-Cross Plains School District in 2017, Beem was an assistant principal at Strawberry Hill Elementary in Anamosa, Iowa. She has master’s degrees in early childhood special education and educational leadership from the University of Northern Iowa.
Echoles, currently the assistant principal at La Follette High School in the Madison Metropolitan School District, will succeed Savanna Oaks principal Sandy Eskrich. Echoles attended University of Wisconsin-Madison, previously taught at Oconomowoc and Beloit’s high schools, and was the coordinator of equity and student engagement for Kenosha Unified School District.
