A man was extricated from his pick-up truck just before noon on Tuesday on the off-ramp of Hwy. 18-151 to Hwy. PB.
Lt. David Dresser told the Press on Tuesday afternoon that the driver had been impaired from having worked too many hours in a row when he left the roadway and hit a legally parked semi truck on the ramp. The semi truck driver, who was sleeping in the cab at the time, was awoken from the collision.
The pick-up truck driver had to be extricated from the vehicle due to the way his vehicle collided with the semi, Dresser said, but was alert and conscious upon police arrival.
He was taken to UW Hospital for medical clearance.
No citations were given, and no arrests were made, Dresser said.
“I’m just thankful that he was in a larger pick-up truck that was able to absorb some of that impact,” he said. “That probably saved his life.”
