Fireman’s Park progress June 2019

The opening date for Fireman’s Park has been shifted by a few days.

The park and its upgrades are expected to be open Friday, June 21. The date for opening had been tentatively set for Wednesday, June 19.

KSW Construction anticipated being done with the majority of construction at the park by June 19, Dave Walker, director of parks, told the Press. The city has a walk-through of the park scheduled for Thursday, June 20, with opening set for the next day.

“It’s getting to crunch time,” he said. “It’s moving along, but also somewhat weather dependent.”

The splash pad is completed, Walker said, and astroturf was scheduled to be placed under the playground on Wednesday. There will still be projects scheduled for completion throughout the month of July, Walker said.

The Wisconsin Triterium Triathlon will still run regardless of whether the park is completed, Walker said, noting that the only amenity that needed to be finished for the triathlon is the parking lot, which was scheduled to be finished this week.
