As a resident of Verona for the past nine years, I have repeatedly heard from friends and neighbors that they desperately want a downtown destination in which they can shop, dine and enjoy.

After reviewing the proposals to redevelop the Sugar Creek Elementary site, the one from Steve Brown and Alexander should be the obvious choice.

This well thought-out plan offers the best approach for the redevelopment of the site; it combines our city’s past by refurbishing the 100 year old school for a possible children’s museum and builds a new central gathering space for Verona with a variety of use options for the city’s future. The plan also reflects the city’s priorities of providing affordable housing, civic gathering space and new small business opportunities in a sustainable way.

I would ask the Community Development Authority and the residents of Verona to give the Steve Brown-Alexander proposal your utmost consideration.
