Ideally, the Verona Police Department would like you to stay out of the squads cars’ backseat – but they would appreciate seeing your nonpersishable food donations fill a vehicle during its food drive Saturday, July 20.

From 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. July 20, the police department will be collecting food items for Badger Prairie Needs Network at Miller and Sons Supermarket, 210 S. Main St. The department is wanting to surpass their haul of 3,798 pounds collected during last year’s event, a news release from the department stated.

The department is asking for donations of fruit cups, individual cups of cereal or oatmeal, pouches of chicken or tuna, raisins, fruit snacks, crackers, jelly, juice boxes and canned one-serving meals.

For more information about the food drive, call officer Ryan Adkins at 845-0952.
