A fundraiser is being held for a single mother and her two children, both of whom attend New Century School, to help them stay afloat while handling a medical issue.

The benefit, running from 1-6 p.m. Saturday, April 27, at Ten Pin Alley, 6285 Nesbitt Road, Fitchburg, will help relieve financial stress for Kay Kratochwill, who has been dealing with “serious” medical issues, and her father, who has stepped in to give her a hand.

According to a GoFundMe page started for Kratochwill, called “Kay’s Warriors,” she woke up several months ago with unexplained blurry vision – which stumped doctors, who haven’t ruled out cancer. Now almost legally blind, she cannot walk without the help of a walker, the GoFundMe page states, and is limited in her ability to do any housework, laundry or cooking – things her children need her for.

The event is not sponsored by NCS, but a Facebook post on the school’s community page encouraged other families at the school to attend the benefit.

The event will include specials on pizza and bowling, and a silent auction.

For information, call the bowling alley at 845-1010.
