The Utica Home Talent team was unable to string anything together off three different Albion pitchers Sunday, collecting four hits and no earned runs in a 5-1 loss to Southeast Section rival Albion.
Utica dropped to 2-4 with the loss and Albion improved to 3-1.
Jake Taylor got the start and tossed two innings. Jake Zeimet threw five innings of relief and Lucas Gregory tossed the final two innings.
Albion put together a four-run fifth inning. Three singles, a sacrifice bunt and a balk pushed two runs across. Dan Zeimet then singled in two more to give the Tigers a 4-1 lead.
Two innings later, Dan Zeimet drove home Adam Gregory with a sacrifice fly to score the final run.
Fort Atkinson tournament
Utica fell 8-0 against Rome in the first round of the Fort Atkinson Generals tournament on Thursday, May 30. The A’s will face Johnson Creek in the consolation round at 6:15 p.m. Thursday in Fort Atkinson.
Utica will then play at Waterloo on Sunday.
