The Stoughton Home Talent team defeated Waterloo at Norse Park on Sunday, May 26 but had the second half of its Memorial weekend doubleheader rained out in Lake Mills on the road Monday, May 27.
Stoughton improved to 4-0 in the Southeast Section with the win over Waterloo.

Ryan Nyhagen hit a three-run home run to highlight a five-run, fourth inning Sunday to power the Merchants to a 12-4 win over Waterloo at Norse Park.
Nyhagen went 3-for-3 with a home run and a double to drive in four runs in the win. Chris Lund and Yonardo Herdenez each had two RBIs.
Stoughton fell behind 2-0 in the third but rallied to take a 3-2 lead in the home half of the inning before Nyhagen’s home run.
Pitcher Ben Riffle went all nine innings, allowing three earned runs. He struck out 10 and walked two.
Waterloo dropped to 1-2 with the loss.

The Merchant’s game Monday at Campus Field in Lake Mills was cancelled due to rain. No make-up date had been set as the Courier Hub went to press on Tuesday evening.
Stoughton opens the Thursday Night League 6 p.m. Thursday at home against the Cottage Grove Firemen.
