Center fielder Chris Lund and left fielder Yonardo Hernedez went a combined 7-for-8, scoring six runs and driving in three runs Sunday to lead Stoughton to a 14-0 win over Cambridge in seven innings.
Shortstop Winder Fuentes was 2-for-3 with five RBIs, including a three-run home run that sparked a seven-run, sixth inning to blow the game open.
Ben Riffle pitched a complete game, shut out with three strikes outs and one walk to the announced who had to suit up after an injury to a Cambridge player.
Stoughton opened the scoring with two runs in the third inning. Dave Hanson singled past shortstop to lead off the inning and came home on a Hernedez double. Ryan Nyhagen followed with an RBI single to score Hernedez, who slid around the tag of Cambridge catcher Austin Haugen to give Stoughton a 2-0 lead.
Stoughton jumped out a 2-0 lead in the top off the first inning Thursday, June 6, but need to rally in order to beat Albion 6-5.
Jake Wenzel and Caleb Broege knocked in runs in the first inning but the Merchants threw the ball around and allowed five runs in the bottom of the inning.
Erick Sperloen went the distance despite a 39-pitch, first inning hiccup. He struck out six and allowed one earned win.
Lund and Hernedez each had RBI doubles in the win.
