Parents, guardians and caregivers in the Stoughton Area School District can now register for a free Nurtured Heart training program next week.

The program, set for 5:30-8 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 17 at Stoughton High School, will provide families with strategies to help their child make better choices. Childcare will be provided. The program is free, but families are asked to register in advance.

The Nurtured Heart Approach focuses on transforming the way children perceive themselves, their caregivers and the world around them, according to the group’s website. Children learn to understand that they will receive endless amounts of praise, energy, recognition and reward through the positive behavior they display and this supports children to build a positive portfolio of themselves.

The training will be facilitated by certified Nurtured Heart trainers and District staff Karla Cornell-Wevley and Amy Ruck. For information, call the school at 877-5600.
