Betty Jane Larson, age 97, of Stoughton, passed away on Tuesday, June 4, 2019, at her home surrounded by her family. She was born on February 28, 1922, in Stoughton, the daughter of Edward Bjerke and Emma (Lemke) Bjerke.
Betty married Richard Larson on June 10, 1947, at the Little Brown Church in Nashua, Iowa. They were happily married until his death in 1993. She was most proud of being a wife, mother and homemaker.
Betty was proud of her Norwegian heritage and was known for her lefse, so thin you could see through it. She loved gardening, and always kept her yard colorful and full of life. She had a talent for baking, knitting and making many afghans. She was a devout Christian and was faithful to her church home at Dodgeville United Methodist. Over the years, Betty developed a group of wonderful friends and was grateful to have them in her life.
Betty is survived by her three children Steve (Gale) Larson, Vicki (Hinck) Galen Quinn and Beth Anderson; grandchildren, Jeff (Rahula Janowski) Larson, Kris Larson, Karin (Adam) Jones, Ryan (Jill) Hinck, Michael (Erin) Hinck, Stacy (Mark) Kossoris and Justin (Kiersten) Anderson; great-grandchildren, Natasha Janowski, Kai Lee Cole, Kenzie Jones, Jonah, Miles and Willa Hinck, Henry, Oliver and Crosby Hinck, and Daxton and Harper Kossoris; siblings, David Bjerke and Jeanne Kitson.
She was preceded in death by her husband; parents; and siblings, Donald Bjerke, James “Jimmy” Bjerke, Norma Reindl and Marion Weston.
A private service was held at Riverside Cemetery on Sunday, June 9, 2019, with the Rev. James Koza presiding. A Celebration of Life for family and friends followed the service.
