A rambunctious group of nuns organizing a fundraiser variety show will be featured on the Stoughton Village Players stage this spring, and the group is opening auditions in the next few weeks.

“Nunsense” auditions will be held at 7 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 16, and Monday, Dec. 17; and 6 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 18, with callbacks at 6 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 19. Performances will be in the middle of March.

Auditions will feature readings from the script, and it’s encouraged to be familiar enough with the script to know which character to audition for. Music is requested, an accompanist will be available, and a cappella is discouraged.

“Choreography will be a significant part of each character and all auditioners will be taught a dance combination and will have an opportunity to show additional skills if they wish,” the website said.

Auditioners will not sing the entire song, and will read from the script with other auditioners. All auditioners will have a chance at some improv.

One part requires someone with ballet skills – those interested are asked to stay after the main audition to showcase their talents.
