Two Oregon High School girls golfers were named Academic All-State by the Golf Coaches Association of Wisconsin.
The two academic all-state honorees are: sophomore Alyssa Schmidt and senior Sydney McKee.
Schmidt received the designation of high honors and McKee received the designation of honors. To achieve high honors, student-athletes must have a grade-point average of 3.75 or higher. Student-athletes receive honors for a GPA of 3.25 to 3.749.
The Panthers’ duo helped Oregon take fourth at the sectional for the second straight year. Schmidt finished ninth at the sectional after shooting a 14-over-par 86. McKee tied for 17th with a 91.
Students are nominated by GCAW member coaches if they had a cumulative grade-point average of at least 3.25, participated in at least 75 percent of their team’s varsity matches and were at least a sophomore in high school.
In all, 319 girls from 96 high schools were honored this year for maintaining high academic standards in the classroom, while competing in varsity golf.
