Brooklyn Elementary School second-graders gathered at Anderson Farm County Park last Friday, March 22, to watch a demonstration about how maple syrup is made.

Gene Berman, who works with the county park, gave a presentation about how sap from the trees is made into tasty maple syrup. He told the Observer he’s tapped maple syrup for 35 years, so he had a lot of knowledge to share with the children.

The students listened intently and they were sent back to class with some authentic maple syrup. They learned about its many uses.
