“Every child deserves a champion,” is a phrase from noted educator Rita Pierson that serves as the foundation upon which we founded Friends of Oregon School District (FOSD) back in 2016.
We believe that each and every child within the Oregon School District, regardless of socio-economics, race or life circumstances, deserves to have someone in their corner and on their team. Our mission and our work is carried out by partnering with our schools to provide kids with basic needs like food, ensure access to opportunities and invest in programs that help kids achieve their highest level of success.
We don’t do this alone – our amazing community has been with us every step of the way and we couldn’t be more thankful.
Our recent FriendsGiving event is another example.
Over the last month, FOSD in partnership with local businesses and individual donors raised more than $6,400 for our Food Pack Program, which ensures that no child in our school district is without food in their home on a day off from school.
We are beyond impressed and so grateful. Thank you to our FriendsGiving partners and to all of you for your continued support of FOSD and, most importantly, for embracing what it truly means to be a community.
