When Brooklyn EMS volunteer Cheri Crubaugh’s neighbor had a medical crisis, she went to see if she could be of assistance. It was then she discovered that the Brooklyn Police Department did not have a portable AED (automatic external defibrillator) unit in their squad.
Motivated to help them acquire one, Crubaugh researched the possibility of applying for a grant. The grant request was accepted, and the Hopey’s Heart Foundation donated an AED to the Brooklyn EMS so that it could be passed onto the Brooklyn Police Department.
As a show of appreciation and support, Crubaugh presented Brooklyn Police Chief Harry Barger and Officer Wade Engelhart with gift baskets of snacks donated by her Marcie, Pine, Cedar and Juniper street neighbors.
